WASHINGTON, June 15, 2004 — With just over two weeks remaining before the formal handover of sovereignty on June 30, the transition of authority to Iraq's new government is more than half complete, Coalitional Provisional Authority officials said in Baghdad today.

WASHINGTON, June 15, 2004 — The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Pfc. Shawn M. Atkins, 20, of Parker, Colo., died June 14 in Baghdad,
Iraq, as a result of a non-combat injury. Atkins was assigned to Headquarters,
Headquarters Company, 4th Aviation Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Hanau, Germany.
The incident is under investigation. |
